Founded in 2007, The Irish Museum of Contemporary Art [IMOCA] is an artist-led initiative dedicated to advancing education about, awareness and appreciation of, and participation in contemporary art. This is actualized through ongoing acquisition and addition of work to our modest but growing collection; a focus on presenting international art practices and artists to the Irish community; developing opportunities to exhibit Irish-based artists abroad; the support and recognition of emergent artists and art practices, and support of related organizations and relevant events and activities.

Our internship programme offers participants an unparalleled opportunity to experience and engage in all aspects of a grassroots initiative in a very real and involved fashion; from the directors to technicians, all of our small staff are extremely hands-on and participate in making IMOCA function. This allows internship candidates to participate in all aspects of running a non-governmental organization:

  • Daily administrative, clerical, accounting and legal duties
  • Grant and sponsorship research and application
  • Marketing, promotions and Public Relations
  • Contextual art-field research, curation and exhibition planning
  • Artist liaising and support
  • Project management and execution
  • Technical and trade skills

Internships can be designed around a specific set of practices or duties for a specified duration, or attached to a specific project for which that the intern will act as an assistant project coordinator from start to finish.
